How to check if a DCR is valid

One of our script uses TeamSite: Smiley Very Happy

CRnode to read the DCR structure. Unfortunately it happens from time to time that we encounter corrupted DCRs and whenever TeamSite: Smiley Very Happy

CRnode tries to open one of those, the iwperl.exe crashes.
Does anyone know of some kind of failsafe-mechanism to check if a DCR is valid at all? (Like if (TeamSite: Smiley Very Happy

CRnode == false))

Do these corrupt DCRs have extended attributes? Maybe you can check those exist?
Or is it that the XML is just corrupt for some reason?

Been doing this a lot, I use this in all my scripts, since you can handle the error rather than just dying. There is a script from IW (I think in the devnet archive) but it terminates when it hits bad XML. This way is better (IMHO) since I can place it in code that walks a dir and it will go to the next file rather than stopping.

In my case we converted DB to XML and had a bunch of special characters that were not properly escaped. So it was in deed bad XML.

Both cases happen here; no extended attributes (imported over the filesystem) and invalid special characters.
