Need to make containers moveable in DCT
MamtaMander
Hi,
We have a template that is currently implemented in such a manner that the containers in it are not moveable up and down in DCT and hence cannot be placed up or down in the output page from the template.
We need to change this implementation, so that template provides the flexibility of containers being moveable up and down in DCT.
We tried applying "combination" attribute with value "OR" on the Main container in which sub-containers are placed that we need to make moveable.
Adding "combination=or" makes sub-container moveable in DCT as well as the output page, but all the dynamic handling done on these sub-containers is failing.
Please check the DCT code below:
Sample Template
Main container
Top Container Details
Item 1
Main Middle Container Details
Sub Container 1 Details
Item 11
Sub Container 2 Details
Item 21
Sub Container 3 Details
Item 31
Container with name "cntMiddleContainer" is the one on which we applied combination attribute. The sub-containers inside this container are the ones, that we need to make moveable, which we are able to accomplish by using combination="or" but JS code fails for these sub-containers.
We tried to apply combination="and" on sub-containers but JS is still failing.
Please suggest where are we making mistake. Your early responses will be highly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Without seeing the JavaScript code it is impossible to say why it is failing.
However, the description of your issue is a bit confusing. Are you trying to allow reordering of the contents of a sub-container or reordering of all the sub-containers within their parent container, or trying to allow the contents of the various sub-containers to be reordered without respect to their container?
In general, you should not need JavaScript code to do reordering, that is built-in functionality.
In the first case (reordering the contents of a subcontainer) it should not matter whether you use the default (AND) or optional OR container type.
In the second case (reordering subcontainers within parent container) you would need the parent container to be an OR container.
The third case isn't really possible, but could possibly be simulated by having both the parent and subcontainers be OR containers. However if this is what you are focused on we need a lot more details about what you are truly trying to do, e.g.: a detailed use-case.
