We've always used Visual Format but lately we've been running into all kinds of odd behaviors with it. Content deleting when switching between text fields, characters not behaving, and so on. So I've decided to play around with TinyMCE to see how it stacks up. The only issue I've really seen with it is that the content is enclosed in 'p' tags. That will not work for us the majority of the time. In VF you can turn off that functionality but I can't seem to find a config file for TinyMCE that gives that option. Is that their something I'm missing or is that the only option with TinyMCE?

I know there is supposed to be some documentation for Tinymce in http://TeamSite_server_name/iw/tinymce/docs/ but when we installed TS 6.7.2, the TinyMCE folder does not have the doc folder. Where can I get those documents and do they explain how to resolve the 'p' tag issue? Thanks.

Use the configuration files provided by IWOV, in conjunction with the editor's various options. As stipulated above, you can find documentation about TinyMCE with a quick Google query (hint: it's on MoxieCode's website).

Go to /httpd/iw/tinymce/jscripts/tiny_mce/tiny_mce_src.js
change forced_root_block : 'p', to forced_root_block : '',

Reload your DCT and the root p tag will be gone. If you still get it, clear your cache so your browser can download the updated js.

I saw your post and applied the solution but it only works with IE but if open the dcr with tinymce in firefox, it brings the p tag.

I always use FormAPI to remove them onItemChange

I found by adding these three lines to the tinymce custom_config.js works for us. All three must be entered to work.

IWTinyMCECustomConfig("[configID]", "force_br_newlines", true);
IWTinyMCECustomConfig("[configID]", "force_p_newlines", false);
IWTinyMCECustomConfig("[configID]", "forced_root_block", '' ");

It removes the root

tags and adds
tags on any additional paragraphs. I read that this only works with tinymce version 3.X or newer. We are on Teamsite 7.2.1
