Can we use Java in Work Flows?

Hi,

I want to know that can we create workflows using Java? I think we should be able able to replace external task where we call the ipl program with the stand alone Java program and similarly the CGI tash should be able to replace with JAVA Servlet.

Please provide some information on this....

Absolutely you can create external tasks, url tasks, etc. using Java / JSPs if you wish to do so. More than likely you'll be utilizing CSSDK APIs...

Thanks for your reply, can you provide any reference where I can find the sample usage of similar implementation. I had tried to find in manuals but no pointers to do so is given in manuals.

I second Dave's post. I am not sure if you have read the WFM guide -- there are specific chapters on topics like "using datasource framework", "using custom code", etc. that clearly talks about using Java code. I am sure there are other chapters in that same guide that provide relevant information. I'd recommend reading this guide thoroughly and then post specific questions.

thanks for your response, I was actually referring "wfm.100.ug.pdf", which only speaks about data source, just for your information I am using WFT so is it necessary to use only WFM for implementing Java enabled tasks??

Not necessarily but it'll go hand-in-hand -- just my personal/biased opinion.

This will depend on the version. If you have TeamSite version 6.7.1 and above, you can look at some of the wft files in iw-home/local/config/wft/solutions and they are calling some java classes.
