OOTB LiveSite deployment issue

Our Out Of The Box LiveSite deployment is failing with an error of:
LSCS StartDeployment: Error while deploying to LSCS.Please
look for content center logs for more details.

In ...\LiveSiteCSAuth\log\deployment.log we're getting the following error.

Can you test initiating a LSCS deployment through command line? It might provide more error info. Has LSCS deployment worked before ever? Please specify the environments too.

This is a new installation, so "no, this has never worked."

Can you point me to documentation on running the deployment by hand or better yet provide the command?

Authoring Install Guide, under "Install LiveSite Content Services > Post Installation Tasks", there's a step for testing "a simple deployment to the Preview instance" that shows the command line and arguments.

Are there any logs in OD ?

nope - nothing modified today anywhere in/below od-home

also logs/iwui/servletd_out.log and content_center.log

There was nothing in any logs. However - this is what we did and are much further.

Let me first start by saying that the "wonderful documentation" provided by the vendor was totally lacking in support.

We:
1) decompiled "startDeployment.class"
2) found reference to log4j
3) changed \Interwoven\LiveSiteCSAuth\authoring\etc\deployment\config\log4j.properties log level from WARN to DEBUG
4) found just before error it was trying to load properties file: Interwoven/LiveSiteCSAuth/authoring/etc/deployment/config/deployment-source.properties
5) Found the username specified in this properties file was incorrect (for internal audit reasons we needed to change our IDs after install - I RECOMMEND NOT DOING THAT!)
6) changed the username & password and we have gotten much further.

We are not 100% there yet, but we're getting closer.
