Thanx for your quick response.

iwupdate -w $file1 $file2 i am using this command.But if folder doesnot exist in destination. It is not creating corresponding source path in destination

I mean if the source file is not exist in destination does it create new one??

I think you need to go back and look at the iwupdate -h output:


bash-2.03# iwupdate -h
Usage: iwupdate [-w|-s|-x] [-o] [-r] {src_vpath}+ dst_vpath
       iwupdate [-w|-s|-x] [-o] [-r] [-f vpath_file] dst_vpath

        where src_vpath specifies a path to a file, directory, or area and
        dst_vpath specifies a path to a workarea. (dst_vpath may specify a path
        to a file or directory in a workarea if the area-relative portions of
        dst_vpath and src_vpath are the same.)
        -w      overwrite all files.  Files in dst_area but not in src_area
                will be deleted
        -x      overwrite conflicts
        -s      overwrite all versioned files
        -r      report on updated files
        -f      read source vpaths from the file vpath_file
                (if vpath_file is -, stdin will be read)
        -o      directory update conflicts return success

Notice that the dest_vpath is not the full path to the file, but rather the vpath to the workarea.

You also might want to let us know what you have in $file1 and $file2 as the way the paths are formatted may matter.

What should happen if $file1 is a vpath to a file and $file2 is a vpath to a workarea then the full path to the file should be created in the target workarea as well as have the file itself copied into place (assuming that there are no conflicts).

Here is the $file1 and $file2:
file1 = "Y:/default/main/eserver/Devel/WORKAREA/load/templatedata/v12/config/config.html";
#$file2 = "Y:/default/main/PlayArea/WORKAREA/load/templatedata/v12/config/config.html";

so u mean to say $file2 shd .be "Y:/default/main/PlayArea/WORKAREA/load" am i right?

Those are filesystem paths not vpaths.

A vpath starts with something like: /default
A file system path starts with something like Y:/ or /iwmnt/

Please make sure you follow the information in the usage and use the correct type of path information.

In your cae file2 should be /default/main/PlayArea/WORKAREA/load
