retrieving selected file list in CGI File

Hi ,

We have customized "Action" menu and added 2 items.

Deploy to DEV and Deploy to PROD.

I am executing a CGI file "deploy.cgi" on click of these items.

Now when I select some files or folders from workarea and "Click" on Deploy to DEV ,
what is the option to get the selected file/folder which were selected in Workarea into the CGI file.

That depends on TS Version and how exactly you call Menu cgi (whether you use wdpro_menu Wrapper or not, etc...)

Replace your cgi temporarily with the TS-provided show_env.cgi. Check couple Files/Folders and run it.
show_env will render a page that reflects posted Form, Environment variables and Cookies.

I am not sure about how you'd go about doing this in Perl / CGI. However, in a JSP you'd be able to do something like this:[PHP]String cwd = (String) request.getParameter("cwd.vpath");
String filePath = (String) request.getParameter("vpath"); [/PHP]
If you aren't sure which variable / parameter you are after, you could inspect ALL parameters with something like this:[PHP] Enumeration parameterNames = request.getParameterNames();
while (parameterNames.hasMoreElements()){
String parameterName = (String) parameterNames.nextElement();
String parameterValue = request.getParameter(parameterName);
/* Print this out either to the page or in the logs somewhere.... */
}[/PHP]Print out the parameterName / parameterValue within the while loop.

With this said, I am assuming something along these lines should work in a CGI as well:

use CGI;
my $cgi = CGI->new();
my @vpath = $cgi->param ('vpath');[/PHP]

I tried accessing Vpath but no luck.

And all the CGI examples under iw-bin are based on Workflow modules.

As this is not invoked thru workflow.we may need some different options like

iwevents to find which files are selected in workarea before selecting the

menu option.

"iwevents" has nothing whatever to do to it. File selection is purely Client's Browser Activity.
Posting the Form to your CGI or JSP Page/Servlet is not a monitored TS Server Event either.

So, through TS Java Classes / Interfaces or CGI instruments you'd have to figure out what's
posted by the TS Form Action upon clicking menu Item. Btw, "vpath" (not Vpath, vpath with the Lower
case!) is the correct Form key for the selected File/Dir in TS 6.7.x Pro (without wdpro_menu Wrapper)

Boris just pointed out that it is "vpath" -- make sure you have it correct.

In addition to that, I also provided a way to dump ALL parameters being passed to that particular JSP. I am sure you could google and find a way to do the exact same thing for CGI. This way you'll know what is being passed and what are the "keys". A little troubleshooting effort will take you lot further rather than totally relying on the forums :-)!

There is no need. TS OTB "show_env.cgi" will show all that and more - just call it from the menu
