What OS and what container are you on?

In *nix there is a start/stop script (or you can restart the context or the container: tomcat is container, was can restart individual contexts, etc) and on windows you can either use the Services control panel app or 'sc' command or WAS admin site.

Thanks for the info. I'm using Windows environment. Can you please throw some more light on your pevious post ?

You can use the control panel applet "Services" to stop/start the content services service. Also there is a shell command called 'sc' in the windows directory that can be used from console that interfaces with services.

The services control only the IDOL instance. The RESTful API is going to be served out through your app container. Presumably, you will already have set your app container to run as a service, but if you are using the instance of Tomcat that installs with LSDS, it does not install a service by default. At least it didn't for me.
