I'd like to not use the email mapping file. If I've manually entered the emails for each and every one of my users from the Admin tab, can I not use the email mapping file.

The short answer is "yes".
The longer answer is "you have to ensure that whatever program you are using to send the email knows to find the addresses via the iwuseradm CLT, the Java equivalent, or by directly parsing the tsusers.xml file.

I believe the Java programs included for use with WFM - despite some of their issues - only use the information provided via the Admin tab / tsusers.xml.

The iwsend_mail.ipl perl script uses the IWHOME/local/config/wft/email_map.cfg or whatever you have specified in iw.cfg.

The iw_solution_email.ipl tends to use the IWHOME/local/config/wft/solutions/email_map.cfg (different file, different format) - or whatever you code in the header TPL (so you can code the header.tpl to use iwuseradm and/or parse the tsusers.xml file)

If you write your own Java mail program (recommended IMO) you should be able to use CSSDK references to get the email addresses without looking at any email_map.cfg file.
