IWPUBLISH (From CGI) Fails to Create New Edition

Calling all IW specialists combatants..dont be shy.

If it makes any difference, heres the technical details:
Interwoven TeamSite 5.0.2, Open Deploy 5.0.1 Sp2, Data Deploy 5.2.1, Solaris 8

I have a CGI script running this command:

$iwhome/bin/iwpublish -g /default/main/company/www.mysite.intranet STAGING 'Automatic_Publish'
============================================

From the command line it works and a new Edition is created without issue, but the CGI fails.

The output is directed to a log (as suggested by a support engineer) and is as follows:

[Tue Dec 17 21:52:25 2002]
CMD: /local/interwoven/5.0.2/iw-home/bin/iwpublish -g /default/main/company/www.mysite.intranet STAGING 'Automatic_Publish'
RESULT: 'ERROR:00013: Permission denied

Can anyone elaborate on this?....When I run the initializing workfow that calls this CGI script, Im in as a master TS user.

If you insist on using a cgitask to execute your publish, you should use iw_cgi_wrapper.cgi to wrap your cgi call. I believe this forces the script to run as the owner of the task rather than the default user assigned by TeamSite. Someone will correct me if I'm wrong.

Problem Solved!

What worked:

We added the ‘iwui’ user to the $iwhome/conf/roles/master.uid file and the "iwpublish" command seems to be working now.

Incidentally, I also came across technote: 1273 in the IW DevNet, entitled: ‘Solaris CLT Wont Run via a custom menu driven CGI’. The solution is to: “Make sure that the CGI user (defined in your apache settings) is in the group that is allowed to execute the CLTs”.

It doesn’t mention the master.uid file mind you and probably should. Perhaps also one to add among the Release Notes I should think.

Anyhow, a happy ending to this one. (hooray)

And then they lived happily ever after.

What I find curious here is - did someone *remove* iwui from the master.uid file? The installation process should (and to my recollection, does) put that entry into the master.uid file. If it is failing to do so, this is a bug, but my hunch is that someone either overwrote or otherwise removed that entry post-installation / upgrade.
