Add folders to Mediabin without Archieving, using WebClient
srinivas13
Hi,
I have a requirement like, User has to add Folders(with subfolders and assets) to Mediabin using Mediabin WebClient without making zip file(or other archieve)
Existing page functionality support to add only files or zip files, not folders.
Is it possible to add fuctionality for above requirement?
Details:
MediaBin 4.6.2
Windows Server 2003
Oracle 10g
Thanks

In 4.6.2, there is a "New Folder" item in the "Add" menu. If it's not there, then your user may not have sufficient permissions to create folders. However, the permissions model isn't that granular, so if you can import new assets to a folder, you should be able to create subfolders as well.
From page 86 of the MB 4.6.2 Web User guide:
If you have Full or Change folder permissions, you can add folders to the MediaBin repository.

Only two ways I know of to add a self-building heirarchy of assets (folders, files, subfolders in one shot) is:
1. Uploading an archive (ZIP, SIT): the ingestion will created folders and subfolders to mimic the structure inside the archive.
1. Drag-n-drop with the Mac client. Though I vaguely recall that the Mac MediaBin client is/has been depricated and not being updated (barely works with 4.6 as it is). I haven't tried the Windows MediaBin client to see if drag-n-drop is possible there (we're primarily a Mac-based group).
