Interwoven 8.3 and 8.5 are compactable?

Hi,

I have a application, which uses Interwoven 8.5 COM API for uploading and downloading the document functionality. Now we are planning to migrate to Interwoven server 8.5. If i change the server and client side installation with 8.5, will that application will work?

Is that COM API for Interwoven 8.5 is compactable with both 8.3 and 8.5?

Please can any one provide the solution for this clarification.
