iwodcmd CLT synchronization needed.

Hi All,
I have a workflow, which runs properly. But sometimes i.e twice or thrice a month, when I start the deployemnt , the 'iwodmcd' CLT executed to deploy the files, but the response comes back after 5 to 6 min later.

In this time, if someone has started the deployment of other file, then the common file i.e. "Page.xml" file is corrupted, because it is getting deployed by first workflow and second workflow started using it for modification. It cuases the corrupt file with Junk characters in "Page.xml".

iwodmcd deploys only 1 or 2 file, still it takes time. Not more than 3 files it deploys at one time.

Do we have any option in the "iwodcmd", that if iwodmcd is executing the deployement, then till the time response comes back no one should be able to access the CLT or put the incomming deployment CLT commands in the queue ? When response comes back after 5 to 6 min, then invoke the next CLT deployment in queue.

It will be done by using only one workflow trigger at one time, but I want to trigger use multiple workflow at one time.

Is there anyway, we can do such synchronization by putting the "iwodcmd" command in queue till the response comes back or minimize the time of iwodcmd CLT. ?

This option is not available ootb, as far as i know.

It is possible to do when you wrap the iwodcmd call in a custom script that somehow check whether another deploy is running and if so then wait for x time. If the workflow task in which you call iwodcd is a custom external/cgi task then you could include the extra custom code in this task.

I am using external task...I can include custom code, but how can I check whehter deploy is currently running or not or it is completed.

Is there any method in the perl which can check the response of iwodcmd ?

If these are transactional deployments...

doing the above.You can also put checks in your workflows to ensure that the all files are not part of any other active jobs - see iwgetfilejobs CLT. What you do if such a situation arises is completely up to you.

Thanks ghoti..I will try the solution you provided for serialised deploymnet, and also will write a code to put in check if "Page.xml" is already used by workflow, then stop user from deplying the file.
