whitespace at top of source in generated pages

Hi All,

Please forgive whta may be a reaaly dumb question,

My boss has decided that having whitespace at the top of my generated content is unprofessional in some cases it is only 4-5 lines in some cases more.

I have been experimenting with html::tidy this last couple of days and just can't seem to remove it.

I tried sending the generated content to an ostream buffer then tidying it and then outputting it using the default ostream buffer.

Any suggestions?

It is your TPL, you have whitespace in the TPL you will have whitespace in the final output.

You may not realize it, but if you do something like this:

[php]

data

[/php]
you will have a great deal of whitespace

You can change it to
[php]

data

[/php]
and get rid of a bunch

Thank you yes that works but there still seems to be a couple of lines of whitespace left over I am hoping we can get rid of it altogether.

It is easy to find. It will be an extra new line after a iw tag, including the first one.

So you can do something like this:
[php]

[/php]

TableInCrosstab.rptdesign

Try using the following to filter blank lines from your content:


<iw_pt name="your-template-name"><iw_ostream filter = 's/\s*\n+/\n/g'>
<...>
</iw_ostream>
</iw_pt>
