change iw-mount local path from Y:\ to Y:

While troubleshooting an issue in TeamSite(ver 6.7.1 Sp1), we changed the iw-mount virtual directory path in IIS from Y: to Y:\ (added a backslash) in the iw-mount properties.

Now it doesn't revert back to Y: as the virtual dir doesn't let the settings be saved without a \ (backslash).
Is there a way to change it back to Y: maybe using CLT ?

Depending on your Windows Server version you will need to edit the IIS meta info. This will allow you to edit IIS settings from the back end without going through IIS Admin.

Or look up how to use the following command.

Hi,
The server is a Win 2003 R2.
iisvdir.vbs has options to create, delete and query virtual dir, I don't see option to update existing virtual dir properties.
Still looking to see how to update the IIS meta info.

Write down the current settings of the Virtual Directory, delete it, then use iisvdir.vbs to try and create it. Since I have never tried using this command I do not know if it will take y: without the back slash though. Let us know.

I was able to make the change by editing the MetaBase.xml (file containing IIS configuration values) which is located at C:\Windows\system32\inetsrv\

Steps I followed

- First stopped the IIS service doing iisreset /stop from cmd prompt.
- Took backup of MetaBase.xml
- Edited MetaBase.xml in notepad (first time edited in wordpad which corrupted the xml and IIS wouldn't start, glad I took a backup)
- Removed the \ (backslash) from the local path of Y:\ in the xml, saved the file.
- Started back IIS by iisreset /start

Problem resolved !!
