How to retain the '&' in VFE

Hello,
whenever I use character "&" in VFE and save the DCT or toggle between 'view source' and 'WYSIWYG', it converts to 'amp;', I need to retain '&' to make a piece of JavaScript entered into the VFE to work, any suggestion?

An alteration in the charencode value or using the preservechars attribute in the below line of your VFE config file may give you the desired result:
