curly quotes in datacapture.cfg

If I am using curly quotes, instead of staright quotes in datacapture.cfg without using " , will that give a parsing error ?

I have a DCT as follows and when I try to create "new form entry", I am getting error
"Root cause:
There must be one and only one element."

What does this error mean and why am I getting it ? How can I figure out what can be wrong with the error message ? Is there any log file which I can check to findout whats wrong ?

You are using datacapture6.0.dtd....
I think you missed root-container......You will need "root-container".

Check the modified code .....It may help..

Now, first question is still unanswered. Is curly quote (one that looks like 6 in opening and 9 in closing) considered as special character ? I mean, if I am using curly quote in place of straight quote("), will it give parsing error ?

How can I type curly quote on a text document. I googled for it, but information is provided only for word document and not for text document.

Smart curly quote are the feature of Microsoft word documents, you will not be able to type such quote in normal notepad....You can certainly paste them in notepad from word document.

If you try to type...I think they will get converted to single quotes......
Compiler will not give an error..because notepad will convert it in single quote.

On Teamsite 6.5 if the templating.cfg contains the dcr-type='iwov' then it is valid, but on the Teamsite 7.1, if it contains the dcr-type='xml' and you have not used the root-container in dct then it will give an error.

To run the same DCT on 7.1 without root-containers, I think you need dcr-type="iwov" instead of xml.

I dont have access to server to check log files. Is this TPL code error ? It does not look so to me, but I am not sure. I checked other datatypes at the same level and they also can not be previewed.
If this is not TPL error, then what can be wrong in here ?

"curly quotes", a.k.a. "smart quotes" are not part of the standard ASCII character set - so they won't work unless converted to entities - and XML only accepts a small number of character entities - "curly" / "smart" quotes are not amongst those entities that XML accepts.

HTML understands things like

‘ ’

(‘ ’) and

“ ”

(“ ”) - but XML (and int this case - your DCT and/or DCR) does not - you would have to use the unicode equivalent entity specification (which you can probably find if you search for it - I don't feel like doing so right now)

1) Can you please let me know about the error I am getting with Preview or Generate with TPL ? I have put the error mesage here in my last post.

2) About curly quotes, in one of the existing DCTs curly quotes were used and it was working fine. Now I after copying and modifying this DCT, curly quotes gives parsing error. So Shall this parse in existing DCT in first place ?
