Opendeploy error "Failed creating socket"

Hi All,

I am facing a problem in deploying file from Dev to UAT which was happening earlier.

The error which I am getting in Teamsite workflow is as below.

"Locating OpenDeploy service. Got OpenDeploy service >>>>>-- Start deployment wft_opendeploy. iwodstart running in default synchronous mode. Need to wait for deployment to complete. >>>>>-- Deployment wft_opendeploy finished: ID: m14 Start time: Tue Nov 23 15:07:34 IST 2010 UUID: 4d4bc840-f6e5-11df-9e9d-908aa1de74c6 Status: Failed Status details: Target UATSERVER(MyLocalHost.UATSERVER) has status FAILED Target SITSERVER(MyLocalHost1.SITSERVER) has status FAILED."

The error in the log is as below.

"Base: Exceeded all 3 retries to get a connection with the target OpenDeploy host.
Failed creating socket."

I have canceled all the deployment and restarted the odbase and odrcvr servers.

Please any one help me resolving this...

Log on the base and try this command:

telnet ODRCVR ODPORT

where ODRCVR is the receiver as defined in odnodes and ODPORT is the port defined

The command works when there is a connection (though no output is shown), failure is an error.

Typically this is caused when there is a firewall in between the 2 servers and that port is blocking access.

I tried telnet commond (telnet ODRCVR ODPORT).

It is sucesfully conneted from base to reciver.

But still the deployments are not happening.

Please help.

Few points:

Check the entries in odbase.xml, odrcvr.xml, odnodes.xml and the target server reference in your definition.
Check receiver logs for some useful information.
If you are using the name of server, change it to IP address and try.

and what is the protocall that opendeploy will be using to deploy files from one server to another.

For me the same Opendeploy error "Failed creating socket" is coming.

I tried telnet ODRCVR ODPORT but it is showing connection failed. Can you suggest me what next to be done.

If you're going through a firewall, and it does NAT, you need to telnet to the NAT address of your receiver, not the actual IP address of the receiver. If you do that, or if you're not going through a firewall and use the actual IP address - and you cannot connect to the deployment port (default: 20014) - then there's something wrong on the receiver end. Perhaps some other process is using the same port? Perhaps the receiver is down? Perhaps someone configured something differently so it isn't using the port you think it is?
