Load dcr

I havea tpl which I using to render tab for 5 pages(for 5 data-types.) The five data-types have a tpl which into which I include the navigation tpl.

I have the following code which loads one of the dcrs(for testing purposes for now)

I'm trying to extract the id element from the loaded dcr thus....

data-type1

[/PHP]

Right now this is returning blank for id. It looks right according to the templating guide. Advice/tip appreciated.
