PT Compiling Error

ArtzHere

Hi,

We are facing PT compilation issues while generating files.
When you edit a file, it opens as a DCR and then when you click on Preview or Generate, it says:-

"An error occurred during PT compiling. Please see more details in log files. 2."

Please find attached the the iwutild.cfg and the iwutild_cmdout.log files.

Thanks,
A

The TS version is 6.7.1 and it is UNIX. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Have you looked at the errors posted ? Have you tried to determine which error (if any) are related to the preview/generate ?

You likely have a problem in your template or environment (permissions to write to a file).

Try to run iwpt_compile from a command line on the server and see what happens.

ArtzHere

The errors are :-

Could not parse dcr: /.iwmnt/default/main/venus-global/UnitedStates/WORKAREA/en/templatedata/products/razorFinderResult/data/

XML parse error :
no element found at line 1, column 0, byte -1 at /apps/iw-home/iw-perl/site/lib/XML/Parser.pm line 187

None of us with editor, master or any other TS access, are able to generate the file. It gives PT compilation error.

Am checking on how to run the iwpt_compile from command line.

Thanks,
A

Could not parse dcr: /.iwmnt/default/main/venus-global/UnitedStates/WORKAREA/en/templatedata/products/razorFinderResult/data/

Just a pure guess, but I am thinking that is not a DCR

ArtzHere

Hi,

This is indeed a DCR as normally DCR reside in the data folder. I even cross-checked this. Can you tell me how to run the iwpt_compile from the command line.

Br,
A

nipper

something like:

iwpt_compile.ipl -pt Y:/default/main/DotCom/WORKAREA/Content/templatedata/Pages/HomePage/presentation/HomePage.tpl -iw_include-location Y:/default/main/DotCom/WORKAREA/Content/ -iw_pt-dcr Y:/default/main/DotCom/WORKAREA/Content/templatedata/Pages/HomePage/data/HomePage.xml -ofile Y:/default/main//DotCom/WORKAREA/Content/index.html

I don't see the file name in the error. Just the path to the data folder. That seems suspicious to me. It makes me suspect that iwpt_compile is trying to open the directory (which, of course, is not a well-formed xml file).

ArtzHere

I noticed that the WORKAREA has a group name that is not listed in the tsgroups.xml file under the /conf folder. I modified it to another group and tested it, thinking its a permission issue. But even, this does not work.

ArtzHere

I think you are right.
I checked the latest error in the log files and it says :-

Could not parse dcr: /.iwmnt/default/main/venus-global/Ukraine/ua_UA/WORKAREA/gillettevenus.ua/templatedata/products/productTabs/data/

XML parse error :
no element found at line 1, column 0, byte -1 at /apps/iw-home/iw-perl/site/lib/XML/Parser.pm line 187
EA TeamSite/Metadata/DcrName not found

So, why is it not finding the DCR. I can see that it is very much there! Am attaching the Parser.PM. Can someone help?

nipper

It still comes down to what I said before, the DCR path being consumed in the TPL is incorrect.

If you are passing the right data to iwpt_compile, then the TPL is munging the path somehow and doing it incorrectly.

That is possibly the cause of the EA error as well

Are you invoking the compile manually from the Generate link on the DCT, or is this happening in the context of the workflow? Is this the main DCR, or do you have any loading of related DCRs or similar happening?

ArtzHere

This is not a workflow and is happening after I select the file and click on "edit" and then it opens in its respective DCR. Then, I make changes (or dont make it) and the click "Preview" or "Generate". It immediately compiles and then gives the PT compilation error.

This is strangely happening to many files in different workareas, and is not specific to a single file. It is happening across many work-areas in TS.

nipper

Has anyone changed the TPL you are using ? 99% chance the problem is in there, which we cannot debug.

ArtzHere

I checked that nobody has changed the TPL. Also, this is not happening to a specific TPL, many TPLs.

nipper

run iwpt_compile from a command line and post the results.

ArtzHere

Hi,

I ran the command:-

./iwpt_compile.ipl -pt /iwmnt/default/main/venus-global/Russia/ru-RU/WORKAREA/gillettevenus.ru/templatedata/products/productTabs/presentation/productTabs.tpl -iw_pt-dcr /iwmnt/default/main/venus-global/Russia/ru-RU/WORKAREA/gillettevenus.ru/templatedata/products/productTabs/data/productTabs.dcr -iw_include-location /iwmnt/default/main/venus-global/Russia/ru-RU/WORKAREA/gillettevenus.ru -ofile test.html

It says :-

Could not output file:test.html

The location is correct.

nipper

Could not open presentation template: /iwmnt/default/main/venus-global/Russia/ru-RU/WORKAREA/gillettevenus.ru/templatedata/products/productTabs/productTabs.tpl

Does this file exist ? How are the permissions on this workarea ?

ArtzHere

Hi Nipper,

Thanks for answering..earlier i gave wrong command, now i corrected it..but i am unable to print in test.html file..do u know why? see my above response..

The test.html is inside this folder:-

/iwmnt/default/main/venus-global/Russia/ru-RU/WORKAREA/gillettevenus.ru

Here is the total command:-

bash-3.00$ ./iwpt_compile.ipl -pt /iwmnt/default/main/venus-global/Russia/ru-RU/WORKAREA/gillettevenus.ru/templatedata/products/productTabs/presentation/productTabs.tpl -iw_pt-dcr /iwmnt/default/main/venus-global/Russia/ru-RU/WORKAREA/gillettevenus.ru/templatedata/products/productTabs/data/productTabs.dcr -iw_include-location /iwmnt/default/main/venus-global/Russia/ru-RU/WORKAREA/gillettevenus.ru -ofile test.html

Use of uninitialized value in concatenation (.) or string at (eval 165) line 72.
ERROR:02006: Error locating test.html

Could not output file: test.html

nipper

what do you mean you are unable to print in test.html ?

Did it create that file ? Can you view click on the file in TeamSite and view it ?

ArtzHere

yes, i created the file and uploaded it in TeamSite. I am also able to view it.

nipper

OK, so your TPL is working the way it should.

View the DCR and click generate, try to overwrite test.html you just created, what happens ?

Then click preview, what happens ?

ArtzHere

I viewed the DCR and clicked generate, tried to overwrite test.html that I just created and it says "the extension .html is not valid with the presentation template, please choose .jsp". So, I created new file test.jsp and imported into the workarea. Now the opened the DCR and generated and choose the test.jsp and it again gave the PT_compilation error. !!

This PT compilation happens with many .jsp files and many dcrs.

One strange thing i noticed is the EA. when u click properties of a file, the filename of DCR does not have a .dcr extension. it simply says "breeze", instead of "breeze.dcr".

nipper

EA may be the issue, you can try changing it.

run iwpt_compile and create a jsp instead of html, does that still work ? Are these supposed to be html or jsp ?

ArtzHere

I created a new blank test.jsp and uploaded it to the location:-/iwmnt/default/main/venus-global/Russia/ru-RU/WORKAREA/gillettevenus.ru/

and I run the below command. See the error. Is my command syntax correct? All paths are right.

>
bash-3.00$ ./iwpt_compile.ipl -pt /iwmnt/default/main/venus-global/Russia/ru-RU/WORKAREA/gillettevenus.ru/templatedata/products/productTabs/presentation/productTabs.tpl -iw_pt-dcr /iwmnt/default/main/venus-global/Russia/ru-RU/WORKAREA/gillettevenus.ru/templatedata/products/productTabs/data/productTabs.dcr -iw_include-location /iwmnt/default/main/venus-global/Russia/ru-RU/WORKAREA/gillettevenus.ru/ -ofile test.jsp

How do I change the EA. It wont let in TS.
