Changing DCR title/label

Hi, how could we change DCR/DCT title/label without effecting the functionality of code? Please find the attachment for sample. The template name is 'Photos' but we could like to change the label/display to 'Photos/Videos' or 'Photos and Videos'.

You won't be able to use a forward slash. Special characters (/ \ : * ? " < > |) are not permitted.

Also, you have two different items highlighted in your image.

First item -
Edit your templating.cfg and change the name there. Then edit the corresponding folder in TeamSite.

Second item -
This is your DCR name, it is set whenever you save a DCR.

Hi, thanks for your quick reply. But both solutions required functionality(save) or background change(templating.cfg & folder ). Is there any possibility something like(item label) :

Here we are not changing item name 'title' so the functionality will not change, we are just changing the label(display).

Not without adding javascript. You would need to use getElementsByTagName to access the td that uses the class iw-formspub-field-label (do a view source on your DCR). You can then replace using innerHTML or innerText. This will only work when you edit or create a DCR since view doesn't fire any user created javascript.

Even though I have given you a solution, I would not suggest it however. Do it the correct way and just rename it in the templating.cfg file. It will be alot less headache, now and in the future.

As for your name, why not call it "Media" and be done with it?

There seems to be a lot of confusion here because your original request was not clear.

If you are trying to change the name of the template itself, you will have to change, at least, the data-type directory and possibly the category directory name - and then modify the templating.cfg file accordingly - you will also have to fix the EA on every single DCR contained within the data/ directory for the renamed template to make it refer to the new name.

If you are trying to change the name of a container or other item within the DCR form, raot's post indicates how to do that. Note that it is recommended that the item (or container) 'name' be a simple string (no spaces, punctuation characters, etc.) and then use a label element to define what you want to show up in the Edit DCR form.

If neither of those answer your question - you need to make an effort to be much clearer in your request.

Ghoti, thanks for your clear cut information - about changing template. I also gave the example with item to clarify the confusion.

In this example, we are not trying to change the item name 'title' because it is referred in the code. We are trying to change the label 'Title of the Table'.

Now comparing the same example with template - we understood that the name displayed on the top of template(attached pic in the initial request) is template name, there is no separate label field for template to change that. If we want to change that we have to change the folder name and respective changes. Thanks.
