Replicating branch structure
Bhupathi
Hi, Is there any way to replicate the branch structure in TS?
Ex:
Structure-1: "//server/default/main/branch1/branch11/branch12/WORKAREA/wa1"
Now it has to replicated to another branch structure like
Structure-2: "//server/default/main/branch2/branch21/branch22/WORKAREA/wa2"
I think we have to recreate structure-2, but wanted to know if anyone has any ideas? If we have some way, it will save lot of time for lot of folks.
Thanks.

If you have multiple branches to reproduce, the easiest way would be to write a quick perl script that uses iwcreatebr and other such CLTs. iwupdate can be used to copy the content from one workarea to another across branches, if need be. Obviously, this approach is overkill if you only have a few branches to reproduce, in which case you're pretty much stuck using the GUI or manually calling the CLTs (which may actually be somewhat faster than the GUI, btw).

Hi Rick, thanks for info. I dont see any CLT with "iwcreatebr". can you provide some details?

Hi Bhupathi, the CLT is
iwmkbr
for creating new branch and
iwmkwa
for creating new workarea. Please remember to set the group for the workarea, otherwise it will mark the workarea as private.

My bad, that's what I get for relying on my human memory instead of my computer's. Point is, you should look these up in the CLT guide for yourself to find out what they do and how they work.
