Uninstalling search

Hi all,

Does anyone know the best way to manually uninstall TeamSite Search? I migrated my existing TS 6.7.2 implementation to 7.2.1, and now I am trying to install search. In doing the first pass at the install, I didn't realize that it wasn't going to create a "Search" folder to put all of the files in. I then ran the search uninstaller and it completed successfully. When I tried to run the install again, it gave me the following error:

InstallManager.install error - cannot determine current product version,
upgrade is impossible

Does anyone know what else I need to do in order to make the installer believe it is a new search install?

Hi,
We faced this problem 2-3 years back where someone played with the installation/un-installation files(TS6.7.2,RHEL5.3).
We opened a support case and after few rounds of discussion got two options from them:
1.Format the OS and do the installation again from the scratch.
2.Install search on some other box and then map it with the TS.

We went for the latter and I would recommend you to open a support case if there is problem with the installation files.

Can't imagine this is supported in any way (therefore do so at your own risk and hopefully only on a dev server), but if memory serves, I've done it this way:

1) stop search and index managers
2) delete (move?) the existing install
3) delete (move?) the /etc/defaultiwsrchhome file (or whatever it's called)
4) run installer again

Basically, that "cannot determine search location" has to do with finding the /etc/defaultiwsrchhome file and noticing that it points to a directory that doesn't contain the installed search (I'm thinking you may have tried step 2 already).

Awesome...that was it. I knew that there had to be a file around somewhere that was giving me the problems. The install worked great and I am continuing with things.
