Do you see any issues with this?

My colleague is trying to add the following in /etc/iw.cfg and then read it using iwconfig CLT in his scripts (instead of going for custom config file).

[cust_section]
cust_var=value

What would you suggest? Thanks.

Are you asking about whether or not this is a good strategy - or how to make it work - or something else?

As for strategy - I've done this kind of thing before - there's nothing wrong with it for customizations that fit the model. If you're going to need more complex configurations or perhaps just "a lot more" such settings - a separate configuration may be a better choice.

In case of complex custom Configurations (nowadays that's usually XML) I often reference Configuration File Path through iw.cfg.
That allows to switch them easily between Environments or toggle for modifications, troubleshooting and the like
