Generation of RSS feed
peterreyan
Hi
I have to develop a component which will take inputs from DCT and generate a RSS feed.
If any one has worked on similar type of requirement ,Please suggest me how to do that.
any suggestion is highly appreciated.

Thanks for your reply.
But the post to which you are pointing is different from what is my query.
In that post ,we are getting xml as an input and we have to display its value.
But my requirement is just opposite to that.
generation of rss feed itself . not to consume it (which is the case with the earlier ).
Thanks!

Would Appendix G of SitePub Dev guide (7.1) be of any help?

Whats the difference between taking info from a DCR that has inputs for rss values and using xslt to create the rss xml or using it for html. It is just a xslt transformation.

To expand on that idea, a typical page takes components and renders them as HTML, or XHTML. But pages and components can have other output types like RSS, so you just need a component that renders your DCR(s) as RSS (i.e. XML that matches the RSS 2.0 schema), and a page with that component that does the same.
When you output that format, most browsers and readers just do the right thing with it. Like in
this example
of a sample RSS document.
At one time there were some blog components that came in a spar with the LS distribution that had components that supported both HTML and RSS output. I'm not sure offhand if there are other build-in components that do that.
Hope that helps,
Stokes.
