For your very broad questions, here is a broad answer, Workflow configurations are done to enable/disable, enhance , manipulate and display content through a series of steps and 99 % of the time, the penultimate tasks will be Opedndeployments / DD Deployments, to enable/disadble this, one have to configure the ODs.

What is that you are looking for, what is your requirements?

As you are new to interwoven technologies... You should go through interwoven documents if you have. Or you can explore these things on this forum by searching queries.

For your information:
OpenDeploy is a tool that is used to distribute contents/files to any repository or filesystem.
Workflow is defining the process of deploying contents/files to any location using OpenDeploy. This process may consist of multiple task like:
approval, email, submit, deploy. This entire task instance called a job.
So, deploy task will invoke the OpenDeploy service to deploy the files, without using a workflow you can deploy a file but you can not deploy a file without OpenDeploy.
Workflow provides easiness to do entire steps of deployment with single execution point.

Workflows are processes. One part of the process might be deployment - but workflows in and of themselves have nothing to do with deployments - they are a series of steps to be followed to produce some end-result.

OD performs deployments of files (or data using DD). This can be run from within a workflow or completely on its own without any workflow context.

I suggest you read the manuals and/or go through some actual training classes.

Try reading manuals and taking training class.
FWIW - WF does NOT read OD file - OD reads OD file.
- WF knows what files are associated with it.
