Admin unable to unlock files

Hi All,

Thanks in advance. We are having users who are given administrator role for a particular branch and are unable to unlock the files inside that branch. Any ideas to debug this issue?

Thanks for the reply. All of the options are checked on (including Unlock File check box).

Make sure the stores aren't frozen (e.g.: run iwstat)

Is the administrator able to perform other operations in the branch (e.g. edit a DCR?) Since it doesn't appear to be a roles problem, I'm thinking permissions.. Maybe your admin isn't part of the owning group of the workarea?

The administrator is able to perform other operation on the files. The administrator is a part of the group that owns the workarea.

What exactly is the problem manifestation? What is happening when one of Administrators tries to unlock the File?
Is "Unlock" Action greyed out or you get some error message or nothing happens or what? Have you checked iwevents Log?
Any clues there? Do you have server side (iwat) or GUI side (custom unlock) customization that may interfere?

Hi Boris,

The Actions->Unlock button is not greyed out. When an user with Admin role tries to Actions->Unlock a file, the user get a pop up error stating "Permission Denied" with a 'Close' button.

iwevents does not provide much information other than just capturing the unlock event.

There are no other customizations that might interfere. Master role users are able to unlock the files with out any issues.

Frankly, I think that "Administrator" (or any other) Role is a red herring here. You problem is not related to roles.

Do you use ADS for authentication? If you do, check KB Articles 52591 and 49961, see if you have proper
"Group for Sharing" ADS Setting. If that does not help, contact support. Note that these old articles are
probably not related to TS Groups, only OS Groups.
