Adding a particular user results in 'no roles' assigned

Hello everyone,

A strange case here... Linux RHEL 5.3, TS6.7.2 SP2

If I add 'most' user to Teamsite through the Admin Tab/Manage Users/Add User/ and using LDAP everything is well and they are assigned to the iwEveryone group. They are assigned the role of WorkflowUser I can assign that user to different groups and upon reviewing their profile see the various roles...

I have one particular user that I add to TeamSite and that person is assigned to the iwEveryone group by default but roles are not assigned.. not even the WorkflowUser...

I can add that user to the same groups but roles never appear in their profile.

If I make them a 'Master' then a role will appear.. but only the master role and none others (even if I add the user to different groups)

If I then add another (different) user from LDAP everything behaves as it should.. the problem appears only with that one particular user...

We have compared LDAP accounts against 'good' users and noticved nothing out of the ordinary. The tsusers.xml and tsgroups.xml seem fine... The id's of tsusers.xml seem in order... I can see the tsgroups.xml being modified when I add the user...

If I add the user and that person logs in to TeamSite.. they can't see any branches....

I have added and deleted the user serveral times with the same 'poor' results. I have added different other users with proper results...

Any thoughts on where I can look to figure this out? Any one seen anything like this?

This is perhaps an obvious question, but is there anything special about that username? Is it a reserved word, or does it have diacritics?

I've seen very odd things happen when a username contains accented characters...

It's a valid question no doubt... there aren't any accents or special characters. There is a hyphen but it's in all of the user names...

I've searched through the forums trying to find something. There is mention of doing a simple 'iwreset' after making changes.. (I'm waiting on the sys admin to do that now). However, when I added other users the changes were instant - no iwreset required..

Why wait? If you have access to the Administration tab, you can do a simple iwreset from there [Server Options > Reset Server]

Well.. no difference from performing an iwreset... adding the user still results in being added to iwEveryone group but no roles appear on their profile

To add to the mix.. I've tried adding this user on a QA server and had no issues... the roles appeared as they should when the user was added to groups on that server. The QA and Production environments are supposed to be identical.

So it must be a configuration issue somewhere - no?

A breakthrough.. sort of.. I can replicate it....

If I add any user through LDAP the roles are associated as they should... if I delete that user and re-add the same user to TeamSite the roles do not associate....

thoughts? This happens in our QA server as well...

When I examined the logs I had noticed that the person who had initially performed the actions did the same thing... added the user - deleted the user - re-added the user...

Just a followup - hopefully this can help the next person.

This has been resolved by running the 'iwreset -ui' command. We had run 'iwreset -a' and a simple 'iwreset' but adding the -ui was the solution.
