Hi

I have to match a cobination of following characters 1,2,3,y,u,%,! which will save the values in dct if string is made of these given characters for instance

the string can be 123yu%! or yu%321! means all characters must come in the string from 1,2,3,y,u,%,! . No other characters should be allowed.

Please give some hint of reg-ex to get regular experession for this text item in dct.

You want regex class, something like this
/^[123yu\%\!]*$/

further one char should not come more than once also.

I do regret for confusion.

Points are:

Content editor should not be able to enter other combination string which is not having 1,2,3,y,u,%,! combination.

every char specified in the 1,2,3,y,u,%,! should be used only once (i.e. max and min too)

sequnce of char 1,2,3,y,u,%,! can be changed like it can be y,u,%,!1,2,3or u,%,!1,2,3,y etc (please ignore commas)

all characters(1,2,3,y,u,%,!) should be used in forming the string no character should be repeated.

This is based on one item in which we have requirement for an item. This number will work as code for that item.

It is trivial to check using multiple regular expressions.
It is perhaps possible to create a single one, though it may be impractically large.

Best way to do it IMO is to discard regex and validate item's Value using FormAPI code,
either onItemChange or onSaveValid Events

For your valuable inputs. I will do some R&D with regex attribute of item then will try with pure formAPI way.

Do they have to create the value for that field? Or can you auto-populate it for them? If the latter, then go that route instead and forget about the regex.
