Restricting access to <options> within a select

Hi,

I have a select instance with 6 options. Options 1 and 2 can only be selected by certain people, similarly option 5 can only be selected by a different set of people.

I can't see how I can use <allowed> at the option level within the select. Can anyone suggest how I might achieve this?

I'm not sure of the actual coding - but basically I'd suggest trying to use FormAPI to control the options that get placed in the select list based on the user who's filling in the template.
