Environment
TeamSite 7.2.0 w/ SitePublisher (no LiveSite)
W2K3
Background
The DCTs / FormAPI were implemented such then when you create / edit a DCR and click the Next or Finish button (whichever happens to appear at the bottom) - a workflow is instantiated that takes care of doing various things including deployment to a Preview server. The FormAPI also launches another window that displays a progress bar, and another script that monitors a log file to determine if the deployment was successful or not (kind of nice).
Part of the way this works is that the jobid is passed back to the FormAPI layer by the callServer script and the jobid is stored in a hidden field within the DCT form so that it can be accessed by the script that monitors the log file (I'm not going to go into lots of detail here - it works). Part of the way this works is that the onClose handler doesn't return true, so that the edit DCR window stays up and the FormAPI layer can be accessed.
Issue
Everything works nicely when you are working directly at the DCR level - the progress bar shows up, and when you close it it completes the closing of the DCR window (this is as-desired).
Unfortunately, if you are using a DCR Datum in SitePublisher, double-click on the component and ask to create a new DCR of the specified type - the fact that I don't return true from the onClose handler means that the information about the name of the DCR doesn't get populated into the SitePublisher UI.
If I do return true - then the edit DCR window goes away and the progress bar and monitoring scripts can no longer access the FormAPI layer to get information about the jobid and to keep track of the polling.
Ideas
Any ideas? Or should I just start writing CGI code?
