How to insert File comments in the email notification.

Hi,

I am using WFM for workflows and i am sending email notifications to users during workflow process for different tasks. I am using emailTemplates for this.
I want to include "File Comments" in the email notification.

Could anybody help me how to insert File Comments in email notification. Is there any variable to include this?

Are you using one of the Java classes for sending email or the iw_solution_email.ipl script - or some other custom script or java program?

The problem with the OOTB programs is that it's a bit difficult to get sufficient information out of them to know what to code the XSL for - though I believe someone posted a solution using XSL to just dump the XML out - from that you can figure out how to get the information you want, assuming it's there.

If you're using iw_solution_email.ipl, you can enable debugging in the script to get it to dump out the XML so that you can code a PT against it.

If you're using your own custom script or Java program (which is what I tend to prefer) then you should have your own mechanism for dumping out the XML so that you can code the PT or XSL against it.

Ultimately, it all comes down to you debugging the situation and writing code to get the result you want.

Does your WFM workflow sending email notification using URL Task?
And kind of comment you want to send with email notification?

You can compose Email Template according to the requirement but those information (variable) should be passed through the task that is used for sending a email.

If you're using the OOTB EmailTask in the WFM without overriding the ClassName, then you can get at an array of attached file comments in your XSL with the following XPath:

/MailContent/Job/CurrentTask/Files/File/Comments/Comment

where you'll obviously have 0 or more Comment nodes for every File, and 0 or more File nodes for the task. The Comment element contains the following subelements: User, Message, CreationDate.
