Log information

Hi All,

Thanks in advance. We are having a custom menu link that would inturn trigger a CGI script. When we execute the script, it errors out and says "check the server logs". When I try to check the logs (iwutild and iwutild_cmdout) there is no update to the logs.

I would like to know if there is any other log that would capture the execution error information.

is the error a custom error message? or TeamSite error?
There are very few ootb teamsite logs which you can go thru easily, this means just go thru all of them. if it is custom log file, then try going thru the cgi file and figure out where it is writing to, that's if you know what cgi script is expected to run. do you know if it actually invokes the cgi script?

This is a TS error message.

We are certain on the CGI invocation.

We are are not interested in the custom error message. We are looking on the information that TS has captured while the CGI is triggered.

Point your menu item at /iw-bin/show_env.ipl first. If this works, then the problem was with your CGI. At the same time, this script will show you all information passed to the script, so it solves your goal.

Hi,

At this point we are not interested in debugging the CGI. All what we need is to see the errors that are generated by the TS system itself.

My question is, should TS log all script executions in the log? or atleast the errors?

iwhome\local\logs\iwui\error.log

You can also add the following to the pl file (after the perl location directive) and it will output the error on the web page.

use CGI::Carp qw( fatalsToBrowser );
