Teamsite Configuration is not read

After some change (I really don't know anymore what can have triggered this) my Teamsite-webapp fails to read the required configurations under WEB_INF/conf.

No errors are found in the logs (not even at debug-level) during start up of the webapp but when using the gui errors like these are shown:

- java.lang.NullPointerException  at org.apache.jsp.formspub.datacapture_005fbuttonframe_jsp._jspService(datacapture_005fbuttonframe_jsp.java:337)
 {due to String allow = whichUICtx.getApplicationParameter("iw.formspub.allowsaveincompleteforms");  returning null}
-Command iw.group.submit not found in the command descriptors.

Re-install the (default) webapps using the build-toolkit does not help.

What could this be?
Where to start looking?

Just a guess - but I'd check out the files in

IWHOME/local/config/lib/content_center/customer_src/etc/conf/customer/

- specifically

application_custom.xml

(though I'd check the other ones too) - it sounds like there's a setting there that's expecting some value and isn't finding it.

Well,

I completely rolled-back my customer_src to the default one and did a re-install (-target install).

No errors anywhere but no working TS either. :-(

I will roll back the virtual machine to a working situation.
