Runtime hangs after certain clicks

Hi,
We have a strange issue coming up in our runtime environment.
We are in UAT and the pages in runtime are rendering fine but for a period of 2-3 days.
After couple of days when any of the page link is clicked the whole system hangs.

The log is not reflecting anything. Is there anyone who faced this kind of weird problem?

Hi,
I don't think that you are not getting any error message in you logs.
There are certain things you need to check to come to a conclusion.
1. Are the pages working fine in TS environment?
2. Are you fetching the values from DB or DCR or both in your component/components?
3.Is it a fresh runtime installation?
4. Have you or your team changed any configuration in runtime environment or run any kind of script by any chance?

I hope if you can answer these points then only anyone can comment on the issue.
Also don't forget to scan the logs especially servletd_out.log.

Santosh brings up good questions if the problem is specifically related to your site. I'm wondering what you mean by "the whole system hangs". Do you mean the app container? The JVM? The whole server? Does it actually hang (timeout and/or HTTP 502)? Does the JVM die?

If the whole server goes down, then it's a configuration problem between your OS and your JVM/servlet container.
If the JVM dies, there should be log files like hs_perf_01234.log showing up in locations you might not expect, and that would contain the dump of the JVM kernel panic.
If the JVM hangs, look at processor and memory usage -- this is likely caused by custom code which allocates too much memory or goes into infinite loops.
If the app container dies, you'll again probably have hs_perf_whatevz.log files getting created, showing OutOfMemoryError or PermGenSpace problems. Again, this is likely caused by custom code misbehaving.

It seems that we are near to the solution and I hope you were right.
It is probably a problem with our codes which we are trying to rectify and then will push to UAT and will wait for 2-3 days to see the impact.

Happy that you are near to the solution and don't forget to update the thread about your problem and the solution.
I hope the problem is with the no. of connectivity to the DB if I guessed correctly and if this is the case then I hope your TS preview also goes down.

Seems everything is working fine till date but we are facing one minor problem that some of the pages in Teamsite is not opening and throwing error.
the error says:system error.
Any idea what might be the case.

Hi,
I don't think that anyone will be able to help you out with this little piece of information.
Try to give the actual error which you are getting as well as the TS version.
Also try to explain if these pages were working previously or not and also what about the other pages.

I am on TS672(Windows) and this seems strange coz it works fine when I create a new page with the same set of components but the existing pages seems to be not working.
Not getting much in logs and the only relevant piece of logs which I am seeing is null pointer exception at certain lines such as:ava.lang.NullPointerException
at com.interwoven.sci.Sci.ObjidAssign(Sci.java:432)

Hi,
There are several possibilities but you can try find out these:
1. It seems that some one has copied the pages from one TS server to another.
2.The components or the updated components are not there in staging and hence it is throwing error (This generally happens when you copy and paste pages from different server).
3.Again, any changes or patches to your TS server.

What I can recommend is create new pages if they are in small numbers and try to find out the reason at a later stage.
