Version a .page file

All,

I have the request to keep versions of a .page file.
We have usually like 4-5 components in a .page file and each components has usally one dcr linked to it. Any idea of versioning the .page file even if the linked dcr gets updated and to make it possible to roll back to a previous version is required?

Any ideas?
