Teamsite external task not executing the first time

I have written a Java external task to send email to a group.

However, I am facing a unique problem that the task times out on first execution. and executes successfully subsequently. Any ideas about how to fix this?

You'll probably have to add a bunch of debugging output to your code (by default, it will go into

IWHOME/local/logs/iwui/servletd_out.log

but you may also have to make sure your loggers are set to "debug" -- see

http://server-name/iw-cc/command/iw.base.loggers

for help with that) and hopefully through the debugging output you can figure out where the time is being spent the first time through so that you can then focus on that code to see if it can be improved / made more efficient.

debug for javamail is enabled; and it logs all the javamail messages the time it sends email(which is from the second execution in the workflow)

I only took a very brief glance at the code - but it seems to me that there are LOTS of places to add debugging statements to try to figure out what's happening the first time through.

Also - you may want to use an Email Task rather than an External Task as the basis for using your custom class - that way the WFM will provide default task variable prompts for things like "target_task".
