Call server issue with replicant items

Hi ,

I've replacant items.For each replicant I've browse option..I need to validate the file size of each replicant item.

I am able to validate only last replicant item..Iam not able to stop the control for each replicant validation.

I found some queries related to same issue in this forum...But I am not understnding the resolution.

Could you pls suggest where I am doing wrong.

Please find the below attached js and call sevrer ipl.

I believe the problem is that you are calling the server-side script within a loop - and since callServer is asynchronous you're essentially making N-calls to the script and only the last one is actually getting through.

If you really need to loop the validation, I suggest you pass the base item's xpath to your callserver script and have it do the looping through all the children items.

If you can manage to do the validation on a per-item basis (e.g. onItemChange event) you might fare a bit better - though you still may want to do the full looping validation bit within the callserver script at the end.

I got the following info from our devnet forum
You'd have to synchronize IPL Calls within FormAPI with the help of IPL-generated JS calls.
There are various ways to do it. For example, set "callInProgress" flag right after callServer and in your loop use setTimeout
JS function to check it every oh say, one-tenth of a second. If it's true, wait another 0.1 sec, etc. If it's false, execute
callServer one more time and start the process anew.

Is it possible to synchronize IPL call in our case?

I got below attached js as an interface between FormAPI and Callserver to make synchronize the calls.

Do we have any known issues if we use this js as an interface between FormAPI and Callserver?

If you have something - try it.
If it doesn't work - try debugging it.
If you cannot figure out what's not working - either try something else, or post sufficient details about what you are trying to do, how you are trying to do it, what results you're seeing, etc.

I cannot tell from the last two posts whether you've actually tried something - or just found some code that you'd like to try but aren't sure if it is going to work.

That's solid JS Library from two TeamSite Experts. It'll certainly work if used correctly.

Note that with it you should use "callServerQueue" Method instead of direct callServr.
Note also that code your Server generates absolutely must execute "callServerDone" call-back
Function, either directly or within your own call-back.

That said, are you sure you need multiple calls in the first place? Ghoti already
indicated one "single call" approach. Another one is perhaps to build comma-delimited validation
File List on the Client and pass the list to Server to check. In either case, you'll have
only one server side execution that may subsequently call back to either save or warning, etc

If I return true from onSave function, it's prompting the user even validation fail...

Check "Save Events" diagram in the FormAPI Manual. An Event you can probably use is "onSaveNameSpecified".
