How can we use Perl PT Compiler ( for using perl based presentation templates ) with non-OS users or when the utility daemon runs as a non-root user.

Not many choices.

You can build pages in workflow and have it run as an OS user. That does not help preview/generate buttons off of the form.

For that, you *may* be able to build a little CGI that is set uid to run as an OS user. Then figure out a way to easily kick it off (likely a different new button on the form).

In fact Iwov quickly & silently added support for xslt when they found that non-os users could not use pt's.

How do you characterize "silent"? They announced it at GearUp before the release came out (in the days when we had GearUp) and it was discussed in the forums quite a bit during the early days of non-OS-User support.

Well, like Iwov/Autonomy often does:

1. release a beta version and call it 'official release'
2. wait until customers find some bugs
3. resolve these by pulling in some open source module
4. present this as a major enhancement

Isn't this what happened in the non-os-user-days?
