Can VisualFormat Editor work on Window 7 64 bit OS?

We use TS 6.7.2 SP2, and we get an problem if we use 64 bits Windows 7 Enterprise OS with IE8.

The top of the editor is black, and it supposes to show the icons and buttons. It works for the 32 bit Windows 7 with IE8, but it seems has problem with 64 bit OS.

Did you know whether the reason comes from 64 OS or other reason?

In IE8 I check Tools-->Manage Add ons-->current loaded add ons.

I don't think its a OS issue.
Is it happening every time you try to open the form?
What about the other browsers(Firefox, chrome, IE7 and so on)?

Doesn't VisualFormat Editor use java? What version of java are you running. Only version 1.4 is compatible with your version of TeamSite.

My client told me it doesn't work, and I saw the add on in IE8, but it is not me to install the plug in. After I saw your reply, I try it on Firefox, and Firefox asks me to download and install.

I get an permission error when I install the VFE, so I guess the isue comes from permission. I will check with our client next week.

Are you talking about Windows 7 as a client machine or as a server?
In either case - it is not officially supported with TS 6.7.2 SP2 (in large part because it didn't exist when that version of TS was released).

I suggest you look at the Release Notes for that version which will tell you what platforms (server and client) are supported. If you really want to use Windows 7 as a client OS you'll probably want to upgrade TeamSite to 7.2.x (which, according to documentation supports W2K8 for server OS)

Anything else is a proverbial ****-shoot and while you may get it to work, it isn't supported and thus if it breaks again in seemingly strange ways you'll still have headaches trying to figure out whether its because of platform incompatibility or something else.
