Does anyone know of a method to pass parameters to a datasource configured as a workflow global variable? Or perhaps access workflow variable information from within the datasource such as $IW_BRANCH, etc. Thanks.

Can you elaborate your requirement? What exactly you want to perform?
Do you need to populate list of users on runtime in a workflow instantiation screen by passing some parameter?

I have a custom workflow with a global variable of type Datasource (not configurable). For which I have written a custom datasource that is available to the workflow. I want to pass a parameter (such as the value of $IW_BRANCH) or access workflow level variables (again such as $IW_BRANCH) from within the custom datasource.
[Please note this does not have anything to do with configurable variables (a different type) nor necessarily the workflow instantiation screen (as the results from the datasource can be seen in the workflow modeler, the workflow configuration admin screen, as well as the instantiation screen).] Thanks.

Follow up: I am looking at accessing the job variable %workflowid in the datasource.

Can it be done like this:

Question is: how do I access the datasource param in the java of the datasource?

You can get all the branch, workflow, etc information from within your java datasource. For example you get the vpath from the passed in context object and then use a CSVPath object and a CSBranch object to get the branch name.

String vpath = context.getServerContext();

CSVPath csvpath = new CSVPath((String)vpath);
csvpath=csvpath.getBranch();
CSBranch branch = client.getBranch(csvpath,true);
String branchName = branch.getName();

okay, got that. But my main objective is different: I need a runtime workflow variable rather than branch/workarea vpath etc..

Maybe I should ask this: can I push a parameter from the instantiation cfg into the datasource like below?

then in the java I would somehow be able to stick that in
