Environment[indent]TS 7.1.0 on W2K3
Attempting to upgrade to 7.2.1[/indent]Issue[indent]I tried upgrading, I tried uninstalling - via the TS installer - and it fails with the error message:
com.interwoven.wcm.service.iwovregistry.common.ConfigException: IR Service not up.

I know this issue has been reported here before (and I'm checking with Support too) - but DevNet search being what it is - I cannot seem to find any of the threads that dealt with this.

The only thing I was able to find on the Support site had to deal with W2K8 (I'm running W2K3) and didn't actually seem to contain information about fixing the problem.[/indent]If you can post a pointer to a thread that contains the answers - great, if you know the answer feel free to post it here too.

I'm hoping that by putting the full error message into the post (and subject) that it will be easier to find it via search for the next person who runs into this.

If I get back an answer from Support, I'll update this thread as well.

Not certain but check the ports. IIRC, the default port for IR changed from 7.1 to 7.2

Well - this still leaves a number of unanswered questions:

I should probably mention that at this point the installer is stuck in "uninstall" mode (when the upgrade didn't work, I tried to uninstall 7.1 using the 7.2.1 installer)

OK, not certain about the uninstaller. When Common Services was upgraded, did it ask you about what port to use?

When I wanted to go from 7.1 to 7.21 I removed TS and did a reinstall (not by choice but the system was in a bad state so I had few options)

I don't recall being asked for any ports during the attempt at upgrading, then I tried uninstalling, and that's where I got stuck with the error message.

Support has asked for some logs - we'll see what happens, but my guess is that I'm going to have to wipe the virtual image and start fresh (something I was hoping to avoid)

did you ever get any results on this issue? Im trying to uninstall TS7.2.1 and it fails with error: IR Service not up

I actually closed the case on January 5th with:

As indicated in the note prior to my running the installer - the services were running at the time.
Anyway - I tried running the installer again - and after a couple of BSOD's the installation *seems* to have completed
successfully.

If I continue to get BSOD's I'll have to consider re-building my virtual PC - but I'm hoping I can avoid that.

You might as well close this case because there isn't anything to really debug / diagnose anymore.

I attached the full case notes though, in case you might find something there to help.

I believe other threads have been made with regard to this error message, but given the restrictions on DevNet search (four-letters-or-more) trying to find something for "IR" won't work.

Yeah its a really frustrating limitation. it feels like its getting harder to find stuff on this dated forum.

Thanks alot for your notes. Prior to getting them, I performed a manual uninstall,and have tried to reinstall TS7.2.1. But the install is failing with a message about not being able to startup JBoss Application Server. And JBoss ius the only service that has been installed. This is driving me insane.

Had the same issue with our installation check the IR service database SQL service account or the account that Teamsite uses to connect to the database.

Check the DB user and password, if you have encrypted the password.

In the database for Common Services in the table User Tables - dbo.IR_DBINFO the credentials.

Check the credentials in iw-home\local\config\lib\content_center\livesite_customer_src\conf\livesite_customer\database.properties

iw-home\CommonServices\config\private\database.properties
