Online ordering on top of MediaBin 4.6

rvanbent

Hi All,
Are there any examples available of sites where people added something like an online ordering system on top of MediaBin?
I have a customer that is looking in an online ordering / broker system to send printwork out for quotes of printer companies.

Anybody seen something like that before? Would love to receive some urls to see what people did.
Being on the subject any online public available MediaBin links are welcome....

Cheers

Hi,
Not sure if I understood you but you want the end user should get the form which is there in Mediabin? Right.
If this is right then what will the end user do with the form?
Explain the scenario once if I misunderstood.

Thanks.

Ok let me explain the scenario. Marketing people create leaflets in InDesign and store them in MediaBin. They need this document to be printed and want a quote from a selection of printer companies. What they want is 'publish' the file in a location where printer companies can have a look at it and quote how much it would cost to print say a 1000 copies. All information from all printer companies is collected and reviewed by the marketing people. An online broker system on MediaBin assets.

What I'm looking for are modules that people added on top of MediaBin by using the API and create in this way additional functionality. E.g. online buying with basket / lightbox functionality like other online image systems have.

You can make a download component and that component can give the enduser to download a form from mediabin.
Now if you want that the end users should take a print out and then modify and submit it to mediabin then its feasibilty is a question mark.
May be for this you can wait for other's response but I doubt that you will get something positive.

One of the workaround is why dont you make forms and make them filled by your end users.
Is this not working for your requirement?

Thanks.

What I've done before (and what I'd recommend) is to detach MediaBin from the whole thing. What you're talking about is a (web) application in its own right, so trying to mold MediaBin into that is probably more trouble than its worth. I suggest using the DeploymentAgent to deploy (renderings of) assets with their associated metadata to your eventual eBroker application. That way, your DeploymentAgent config controls what is "ready" for consumption by your bidders (based on e.g. metadata) and you avoid a security headache there. At the same time, you save yourself the headache of overly customizing the product to the point that you can no longer upgrade.

I will get back to you on this by this weekend.

company and also for a health education university for couple of years ago

Thanks
