Can I run WFM Client for both 672-sp2 and 721 on the same machine

Currently we use TeamSite 6.7.2 SP2, However, we are planning to move eventually to 721 so I installed 721 on another server.

My question is can I install 721 WFM client next to the current WFM Client for 672 SP2 which is 1.0.1.1 on my Windows XP laptop.

I don't believe you can have two different WFM clients installed on the same client machine. If you need to go back-and-forth you may have to go through uninstall/reinstall steps each time.

That being said, I'm not sure whether there were any real changes made to the WFM client between 6.7.2 SP2 and 7.2.1 - so you might just start by trying to use your already installed WFM client to connect to the 7.2.1 server and see if you run into any problems. It might "just work".

Why wouldn't this work? Yeah, if you run the installs one after the other they'd just overwrite, but they're just standalone Java apps. I don't see why you couldn't install one, rename the folder, then install the other. Both should then work just fine, no?

We also tried this but unsuccessful till date.

Agree Rick but we failed to do so and even the case is with support.

The only thing I can think of is that I believe the WFM installs some DLLs and whatnot in Program Files/Common Services or whatever, and those may not be compatible across versions. I'd have hoped that if at least 7.2 is installed *second*, that the DLLs would be backwards compatible.

An alternative could be to try setting them up in individual sandbox containers (see sandboxie.com).

I believe the wfm installer in fact just unzips the java-rt + jars to a directory. So there should be no problem to install 2 version next to each other.

I have even run the wfm over a shared network drive without actually installing the wfm on the client. Worked fine.
