Production data not updating on submit

But QA data is. Im just wondering what log or where I might check first.

I just need a hint. Its happened before many months ago but Im not sure what causes it. Im sure if I rebooted teamsite production server it would probably fix it but I want to know more about how to fix this in the future.

If someone would please offer me a hint I would be appreciative.

Rebooting the server should not make a difference.

Did the deployment work ? Check the logs.

Is the data on the production server ? Could be a cache issue.

Are there multiple prod servers ? Maybe it made it to one and not the other ?

You need to debug and there is little that anyone on DevNet can help with.

Im looking for someone out there who can point me to which logs to check.

When the user submits a change to a page in teamsite we have a qa deployment which updates an sql server table but our prod deployment does not.

I dont know how to make it any more clear than that i guess.

We dont have multiple anything. Were a small city government with a staff of 1. 1 branch, 1 content store, 1 qa server, 1 prod server.

We have 4 teamsite websites on 1 branch. Only 1 has occasional issues with data not updating on production. And its happened before but months ago.

So im looking for which logs to check to see why datadeploy or opendeploy or teamsite isnt allowing our prod sql server to be updated when a user submits a page. Have I left anything else out?

Who wrote the workflow ?

This is implementation specific so it is hard to know what log to check without knowing anything about the workflow.

OpenDeloy logs are a place to start, both on the TS server and the receiver. But if they are not updating, then the workflow itself is broken and you will pay someone to come fix it.

And next time you decide to PM someone trying to help you you may want to make certain you are providing enough information to help. Have a good life.

I dont sit around and do interwoven teamsite all day. Im a .net, teamsite, sql server admin/dba/sql programmer/windows sa/ etc

Ive probably forgotten more about teamsite than Ive actually learned. So a little latitude would be appreciated in my situation.

When you say provide more info sir I would if I knew where to even begin.

What threat? It sounds as if you sent an unsolicited private-message to Nipper (in addition to posting here in the public forum) - and - in both cases didn't really supply sufficient information for the person(s) you are asking help from to be able to really provide it.

That's an issue you need to take up with your manager - sounds like they should be working on stimulating the economy and hiring other people to assist you.

When you've forgotten more than you've learned you're worse off than you started - and if you really feel so clueless about the product(s) in question you definitely should talk to your manager about hiring someone else to take over the responsibilities for those things that you are (paraphrased from your own words) ill-equipped to handle.
So perhaps it is you who needs to do an ego check?

Log files have timestamps on them - if you search the entire directory structure where you have the Autonomy Interwoven products installed, get a list of all the files that end with "log" and that were updated within the last day or so - that would be a good place to start -- but as Nipper said, if this is custom development, there could be diagnostic logging going on in some completely different directory - that we (as outsiders) would have absolutely no knowledge of.

Are there no developers there? Nobody who might be considered as responsible for these customizations? Or is that all part of your load now - and something which (apparently) you are not prepared for? If so - hiring a knowledgeable consultant to come in and help make some order of your environment is not a bad idea. Hiring someone full time for the position might be better.

And I can PM anyone I want for any reason I want unless this board is a dictatorship run by you and nipper??

See - this is new information that wasn't presented in your original posts and thus provides more context for the issues you're facing. Also I wouldn't say it has "absolutely 0 merit" - it has perhaps a limited probability of actually accomplishing anything, but it actually has a significant amount of merit if you're not equipped to handle a job for which you are apparently responsible.

We don't run it - we are simply two of the more senior and knowledgeable Interwoven consultants who participate in these forums and thus were two of the most likely people to actually attempt to help you resolve your issue - but based on your attitude and apparent lack of concern for general social norms (sending someone on a public forum an unsolicited private message is considered "bad behavior" by many - not just in these forums - it's someone akin to spam and telemarketing) you'll probably have to wait for someone else to feel like its worth their effort to try to help you.
It's kind of a shame - a little restraint and better manners in your posting styles and you might have actually gotten a lot more assistance.

The first place I would check would be OpenDeploy Admin. Do you have access to it? The URL should look something like this http://servername:8081/iw/opendeploy/login.

Try running the deployment and see if it gets initiated. There is usually an error given in the log (you can check it on the OD Admin) if the workflow initiated a deployment and it fails. If a deployment does not get initiated then you may have a workflow issue which will be a bit more complicated to troubleshoot since we do not your WF/system configurations. At least you have a place to start now.

Teamsite/WF logs could be anywhere in your system but you can usually find them here:

\Programs Files\Interwoven\TeamSite\local\logs.

OpenDeploy logs can be found here: C:\Programs Files\Interwoven\OpenDeployNG\log

The usual reason for a data deployment failing would be one of the following:
1. Incorrect permissions to the database or table
2. constraint violation
3. connection problems
4. All others : ) (I have seen some errors that think outside the box - random)

Thanks guys.

What I have found by digging int he logs is that there is an sql PK constraint violation in a column called paragraph in the sql server database. I found this out by looking in the deployments log file. src.DeploymentName.to.database.log in the OD-Home\log\website\ directory.

Also interesting to note is that I found a weird message in odbase.log that says the following: : Completed session queue capacity reached
