Form getting saved on previewing DCR in read mode

Hi all,
When i open the DCR in Read Mode and click on Preview the form is getting Saved.Can somone post the possible reason why this would occur and the possible solution to the problem if someone else is facing similar kind of issue.

In read mode ? Are you talking just click on the DCR itself ?

That does not (and cannot) save. It is possible that your TPL makes some changes (i.e. adds an extended attribute to the DCR) when you click preview/generate.

If you edit a DCR (and do not change it) the DCR wil still save before preview/generate is done.

exactly, im just clicking on the DCR itself wherein only the preview button is visible,when i click on preveiw i get an error saying that the file is locked by another user and hence im getting an impression that the file is getting saved on clicking the preview button . Moreover we have done lot of customisations to the save functionality but no customisations to the Preview functionality.Is there any possibilty that the customisations done to save functionality affect the Preview functionality

Is this happening only to a specific DCR or to all the DCRs using same DCT or across all the DCTs?
As nipper said, In read mode DCR content never gets changed. So there has to be different reason for this problem

It happens only to a few DCRs across different DCTs. I could not observe any commanlity between these DCRs also. I am using formAPI customization using a JS script but ideally the customizations will have no effect in read-only mode.

it has to be in your TPL, formapi does not even load in preview mode.

I am just adding my 2 cents in, Try doing this

1. Submit all the DCR for a particular dct-type to teamsite staging.
2. make sure you have submitted a corresponding html of this DCR to stage as well
then go back in and try doign what you were doing. Now see if it is doign the same thing again?

By chance, does your template set/modify any DCR related metadata?

If it does, DCR may acquire "modified" status upon preview in both Edit
and View modes although the DCR itself is not changing.

Attached is the error I'm getting when I try previewing a dcr that's locked by others.

Has anyone found a solution for this issue? We are still experiencing it and the workaround that we put in is to unlock dcr before sending it to approver to preview. thanks!
