Populate a Select Datum using Generator

Ram_IWOV

Hi All,

Hi all,
my environment is TS 7.2 on Windows -2003

I would like to dynamically populate a Select datum in a component.

I am trying to populate a datum dynamically using Generator. The content XML is as follow:

<Data>
<External>
<Constants>
<Datum ID="EC0" Name="const0" Type="String">Some constant value 0</Datum>
</Constants>
<Parameters>
<Datum ID="EP0" Name="param0" Type="String">Value 0</Datum>
<Datum Exposed="true" ID="category" Name="moreOptions" Type="SelectSingle">
<Generator Object="com.interwoven.external.SomeClass" Method="getDebugOptions">
<Parameters>
<Datum ID="GDO_000" Name="N" Type="String">5</Datum>
</Parameters>
</Generator>
<Option Selected="true">
<Display>Plan <Value>012345 </Option>
</Datum>
</Parameters>
</External>
</Data>

-------------------------------------
and the java method returns document:

---------------------------------------

public Document getDebugOptions(PropertyContext context)
{

Document doc = Dom4jUtils.newDocument();
Element optionsBase = doc.addElement("Options");

//a_Process parameters
String str = (String)context.getParameters().get("basename");
String basename = (null == str ? "DebugItem" : str);
str = (String)context.getParameters().get("start");
int startN = (null != str ? Integer.parseInt(str) : 3);
str = (String)context.getParameters().get("count");
int countN = (null != str ? Integer.parseInt(str) : 3);

//a_Add N options
for (int i=startN; i < startN+countN; ++i)
{
GeneratorUtils.addOption(optionsBase, basename+i, basename+"_"+i);
}
return doc;
}

But when I try to save the component ,I get following error:

-------------------------------
Component preview failed.

Could not load component data XML into XMLDOM.

Datum ID=[category]
Must have least one option
--------------------------------

Please guide me how to use the generator.

Did you try just outputting some static options first?

Here is a known good Generator class you can test:

/**
* Sample artists
* xpath: /Options
*
* @Param context PropertyContext
* @return dom4j document
*/
public Document getArtistOptions(PropertyContext context)
{
if (LOGGER.isDebugEnabled())
{
LOGGER.debug("Executing Debugging.getArtistOptions");
}

Document doc = Dom4jUtils.newDocument();
Element optionsBase = doc.addElement("Options");

GeneratorUtils.addOption(optionsBase, "Opeth", "op");
GeneratorUtils.addOption(optionsBase, "Pink Floyd", "pf");

return doc;
}
