Moving iwstore from TeamSite 6.7.2 Solaris to TeamSite 7.4.1 Linux

We have successfully installed TeamSite 7.4.1 on Linux box using Silent mode and TeamSite is up and running fine.

Below are the high level steps we are following to move iwstore:-

Creating the active users in TeamSite with same UID/GID as per old version,
Took current iwstore backup having 29GB of data.
Copying the entire store from 6.7.2 iwstore to 7.4.1 version. There are many ways to copy the stores depending on the size of our store. we can tar up the entire store and do any scp, or take a full backup of the stores from one server and restore it on the new server
Once the store is copied, we can try starting up TeamSite on new server. If no issues, UI should be up.

Please let us know what is the way and steps to follow to move iwstore from 6.7.2 to 7.4.1 version.

We moved the iw-store to new TeamSite version but when I tried to start the server it is not coming up. I mean Teamsite is not up and running.

Please find attached the logs and let me know what may be the issue. Is this any user issue while moving the content from TS 6.7.2 to TS 7.4.1 version.

Did you move the the entire iw-store? You can only move /iw-store/default.

There are errors which mentions permission denied.

bash: /opt/Autonomy/TeamSite/bin/iwserver.linux: Permission denied

How are you starting the services ? If you using a non-root user, make sure that you start services with sudo permissions.

If you're getting permission denied errors (based on another response, I didn't look at the log) - then there's a good chance you forgot to fix the permissions in iw-store/* - I believe all the files and directories need to be owned by "iwts" not "root".

we fixed the permission issue and TeamSite UI is coming but nothing is seeeing under default we are not able to see moved iwstore from our old version. Is this problem with user accounts.

Please let us know what may be the issue.

No we just moved the store to new TeamSite version. We did not run the iwidmap.

Please let me know do you want me to create users what is there in previous versions with same UID and GID and then move the content to new version. IS this works out.

There have been numerous discussions recently about migrating from 6.7x to 7.x and several of those threads included posts indicating that you should (on Unix) definitely make sure that the UID and GID of the local server users and groups match on the new server what they were on the old server - so YES - do that now (it should have been done before you did the installation on the new server!)

You mean to say except system users iwts, iwui, iwguser were created by application during installation and given uid and gid by installer other than that TS OS users need change with same UID and GID what is available in old TS system.

No - that's not what I meant to say - I said that all local system users and groups on the new server should have the exact same UID and GID values as the old server. If you take care of that before the installation on the new server - you don't have to worry about user / group mismatches
