MediaBin 8.1 Asset server starting taking time.

Hi,

Its taking lot of time to start the asset server around 10 to 15 mts. Specially before and after " Repository initialized ok.

Not taking much time once "Setting MBDataDirectory to \\Server\MBDataDirectory "is completed.

Any suggestions to improve the startup time please.

How big is the MBDataDirectory folder ?

Try if you can clean up the Temp/Proxy folders under MBDataDirectory.

Its 300 GB. with same size 4.6.2 MB starts in sec

Can you be more specific? You say its taking a long time before and after "Repository initialized ok." but then you say it doesn't take much time after "Setting MBDataDirectory"...

Can you just post that part of the log which has the timestamps so that the timing is clear?

A few other thoughts: You are running a 4.x system on a different server and different OS. Which means that the repositories are physically different. This means that you aren't necessarily comparing apples when it comes to start up times between the two system. The configurations of both of these systems are certainly different so you need to figure out what might be affecting the startup behavior.

Also, it is doubtful that your 4.x system has the same temp as your 8.1 system, so again, you should look and see if any cleanup is possible.

Network connections/configuration, database configuration, proxies, etc can all affect timing of the startup. One easy thing to check and see if any difference in timing is seen by disabling the antivirus software on the server and then try and start it up, although I suspect the issue is something else.

Hi Todd Poston,

I 've disabled antivurs and tested and no improve in timings.

Please note that server statrup is very fast when MB 8.1 installed initially.

It became slow after migrating 4.6.2 data to 8.1.

Below is the info from our stagin server log file. It's consistently take more than 2 hours to Start asset server.

Please help.

Reindexing Mediabin Repository resolved the issue.
