Eventsubsystem database change

I am migrating Eventsubsystem DB from one DB server to other DB server.

I have updated “//eventsubsystem/conf/broker-config.xml” for my new database, but for password it has something like:

I think to update the password I need to update "ess.properties", but it has password encrypted as below:
password=ENC(pJDXjhDJkw)
jasypt_algorithm=PBEWithMD5AndDES
jasypt_password=activemq

Is there any document which can help me in setting new database for evensubsystem or can someone help me setting the password for new database?

You can try to look at the algorithm used to encrypt the password:
PBEWithMD5AndDES
and download a jar file to unencrypt that password and encrypt your chosen password.

Hmm - according to the 7.1 Admin manual, the DB settings for the event subsystem are in a different file and the password is not encrypted.

On the other hand - the information you're showing seems to align with the information in the 7.2 Admin manual - in which there is a very clear note:[indent]NOTE
A script is required in order to change the database password. Please contact Customer Support for more information.[/indent]I suggest you make sure which setup your version is using (perhaps it's a doc bug that was fixed in the 7.2 rev) - and then, perhaps, contact Support as indicated.

I agree with Fish, there is a jar utility avialable from support site which encrypts the password, further make sure that the user account has dba admin previlages and also You may need to create tables or coloumns manually in case the script fails to create them.

Meanwhile, can you please let me know how can I disable event subsystem database? I think TeamSite has some configuration file where I can enable/disable event subsystem database.

but when I see database it is not updated for past one month and iw.cfg was updated long back and TeamSite has been restarted many a times in between so it is not that iw.cfg has been updated now. Is there any other setting we need to make in order to disable/enable even subsystem database?

With the above settings in iw.cfg, it is not updating database which makes me believe I am missing something. I would appreciate any help.

That change will not do squat.

There was a way to stop it in 6.X but I do not know if that is still supported in 7. Talk to support for certain, but you can also search DevNet.

/etc/init.d/iw.server

Look for lines line:
iweventsubd $ARG 1>>$IWLOGFILE 2>&1 ;

to see if they are commented out.

IIRC, that is the 6.7 way of doing things. I do not think 7.1 behaves that way

I think that line has something to do with some small part of the event subsystem but does not actually enable or disable the system as a whole - to do that you'd have to comment out the line in /etc/init.d/iw.server as previously suggested (if you're on Unix) or disable the event subsystem service in the services panel (if you're on Windows)

As with many things of this nature - if you want to get an official response - open a case with Autonomy Support. They'll probably tell you the same thing, but it's just possible they might provide some different (better?) information.

As I have stated before, that entry in the iw.cfg does not do anything.

Also, commenting out the line you posted is a different line than was suggested in the earlier post. That was how you did it on 6.7, on 7.2 the event subsystem is part of theapplication container (jboss), 7.1 was a hybrid and I really do not know where the event subsystem is.
